Why is EMBA more expensive than FT or PT MBA

Hi all,

Why does an EMBA program commands higher tuition fees than a FT MBA program?

I can only think this must be related to the to having a better quality cohort and paying a premium for weekend/evening classes?

At Henley f.e. (though this is a general pattern in all UK MBA offerings)

Full time MBA - 12 mnths is £27,750
Flexible EMBA - 30mnths part time is £19,500
EMBA - 21 mnths part time is £35,750
The course content covered & school premises are the same and on both EMBA programs so why such a difference in the tuition cost?

any guidance is much appreciated!

I called Henley and have my answer.

It's down to differences in the number of face to face contact hours, number of workshops taught and higher qualified faculty.
Also difference in course structure, the 30month program has only 1 core module, the rest are electives

The capacity to pay also matters. Full-time MBAs typically lose money. Part-time courses tend to break-even.

Beyond that, would it also be that the full time MBAs and the executive MBAs are appealing to two different audiences? Older, more experienced managers are usually more willing to pay more than those who are younger. I doubt it's strictly down to classroom hours, but rather has to do more with the willingness to pay factor and supply/demand.
