Neither coast?

Hi there, it's funny, I'm from India, but I've lived in the U.S. for almost six years now - and haven't really left the west coast (except to visit family in NYC.) My family has always said that life is different (especially for immigrants) away from the coasts. Now I'm looking at schools that are in the south (Texas-Austin, GIT) and in Utah (BYU.)

Can anybody comment on life in places like that, specifically for an Indian? I have to say that it's pretty nice having an Indian community where I am (outside Palo Alto.) I'm wondering if I will find something similar in Austin or in Salt Lake City. Any comments would be appreciated.

Austin is a great city with a large Indian population. I grew up there and had many indian friends. It is also a very accepting and modern city (not like most people think of the south).
