Looking at this photo from a factory visit (I guess it includes professors and staff from the factory): https://www.hs-pforzheim.de/De-de/Wirtschaft-und-Recht/Master/MBA_IM/News/PublishingImages/Strasb_Gruppe_kl.jpg I guess that at least half of the international students are from India

Your response confirms my initial reservations.
Just checked your post on another thread - if jobs in Berlin are hard to come by for non - nationals, should I also chuck out ESMT in favour of Mannheim / WHU ? Specially considering that I will have less than avg work ex at 2.5 years after graduation?

Half my class is Indian and then we have the second biggest Chinese population, third comes the Americans, then the Germans. We have Turkey, Russia, Colombia, Canada, Vietnam.

You should however do your own research, Duncan can probably come up with a few interesting comparisons and also tell us about the reputations of these schools. I can only speak for mine - its very good.. :-)

PS At ESMT and the other ranked schools, salaries will be around 80K - reflecting the more qualified students and their ability to find roles in banking and consulting.

Thanks Duncan, Avigyan for your comments.
I'll definitely revisit the other two schools more seriously.
How do employers look at the HTW MBAE degree btw?
I know its not the same league as Mannheim, WHU, HHL but since the MBA is still gaining acceptance in Germany...a viable option, perhaps?

Salaries revolve around 60,000 Euros per year and I am talking about the higher bracket here. There are students who are working with Henkel, Continental, Bosch, Daimler, KPMG, Roche, Infosys in middle and senior management positions and very good profiles. This is my alumni that I am talking about which are mostly non German passport holders - in fact a majority of them are non EU Passport holders.
Interesting. Off-chance, do you know what the average salaries are for graduates? And if grads stay in Germany, do they generally stay in the southwest, or do they go to hubs like Frankfurt, Munich, etc.?
I'm just curious because the 60k figure is quite surprising for a Hochschule, especially if many get jobs without German speaking skills.

There are people with backgrounds in tax and auditing, renewable energies, investment banking, law and technology of course. We have a student who has been an Assistant Professor himself in an Indian MBA school. There are students who are doing their second masters.
Having such profiles would mean that your industry network is already pretty strong. The language classes are taken very seriously here.

I have read and heard a good stuff about HHL but I expected HHL to feature more prominently in the FT and Economist rankings. The absence of HHL from Economist 2012 MBA ranking and a low rank in FT top european MBA made me a little skeptical.
Further, the unavailability of any official placement record made it harder to correctly asses the college, the two charts given on the website are totally useless.
I have heard that HHL MBA is good for people with technology background. Is it so? Can you let me know your views on this?
Also, since we are one the topic of discussing post MBA salary could anybody throw some light on the avg salary packages of HHL passouts.
Thanks a bunch for your help!
I think the German and international rankings represent HHL fairly. It's one of the top business schools in Germany, and the oldest.

I would not expect HHL to figure highly in The Economist ranking. The key driver there is percentage salary increase. Students at HHL are earning fairly high salaries on the way in, and German management salaries are not so high. So, That does hold back most German schools. To do well in the Economist ranking, they would need to recruit more young students from the developing world, who would have a higher percentage increase.
The information on the website might not answer your questions, but that doesn't mean it is useless. There are other people reading that page.
I don't think HHL is only, or especially, good for people in a technology background. Looking at 550 HHL alumni with MBAs on LinkedIn, the primary destination is into management consulting. Finance and IT added together are still smaller than MC. The average salary, of 83K according to the brochure, is in line with the top German schools (slightly higher than ESMT). Maybe read the brochure and compare it to the other top German schools? http://fischerdruckmedien.de/ePaper/HHL/MBA-full-time/FLASH/index.html
