Those are undergraduate rankings, and the key difference will be the number of international students.

Newcastle faces a supply and demand thing: it's in Newcastle. If it was in London it would be more expensive. The fees should not be your main doubt.

finally i have screened down to 2 universities that are newcastle and surrey i recently got an admission letter from surrey so i am a bit confused with my decision now previously you were in the favor of newcastle.
My first concern is that surrey took almost 3 months to decide about my application and gave me the final verdict. They must have analysed my application thoroughly whereas sheffield took hardly 2 days and gave me the offer letter. I was astonished that they were pretty fast at it how come and within days gave me the auto generated scholarship of 2000 pounds. In the case of other universities they ask you to apply formally via application for the scholarship and is a time consuming process.
i was going back through your posts and in 2011 a chinese asked for your guidance between newcastle and surrey and you recommended newcastle over surrey because i guess in 2011 surrey only had one accreditation.
But if you look at the website of surrey it has improved a lot they have entered a lot of information career prospects etc and have done very impressive marketing of there programs
In the case of newcastle there are hardly any details and alarmingly there DBA or phd has come to an end and they are not offering admissions in it any more
it is a big concern if a program of a university shuts down
now if we look at the facts
Surrey is close to London and Newcastle is up in the North,
surrey is not in the russell group and but new castle is in the Russel Group. Both the universities possess amba but newcastle has got equis while surrey has got aascb
Super confused please enlighten me with your knowledge regarding these two mba programs.

Newcastle has not closed its doctoral programme: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/nubs/courses/postgrad/research/index.htm It did have a joint DBA taught at Grenoble: I don't see why it would be alarming to close an overseas programme that's not even at one of your own campuses.

I don't think either of these schools publishes enough information. Surrey simply has a list of jobs (http://www.surrey.ac.uk/mba/careers/top%20100%20career%20destinations/index.htm), with no idea about the key thing: which of these schools is best able to place the highest percentage of non-EU students in UK jobs. That's the key thing for you to find out.

After having researched thoroughly I still need your feedback. I am stuck and unable to decide the deadline to pay the initial deposit is about to expire 31st July. So finally I have come down to two universities i.e Surrey and Newcastle. The points in favour of Surrey are 1) It has two accreditations AMBA, AASCB 2) It is close to London. 3) It established an industrial park and several Multi national companies have there offices. 4) It offers an introductory course on SAP 5) fee = 20,260 GBP

The thing that bothers me about Surrey is it is not in the Russell group and has developed from a poly technique institute. Its faculty and research is not as rich as that of Newcastle.

What I like about Newcastle is that 1) It has two accreditations and is in the Russell group 2) It seems to have a good faculty and fee = 16500 GBP
what bothers me is its location, its industrial links compared to Surrey.

Give me your honest suggestion so that it helps me in making my right decision.

To really answer this I'd need to know about your background and your goals, and also consider whether these are the best options available to you. Read my profile page if you need a more personal answer.

Newcastle is certainly the stronger business school, and the older university. Surrey wasn't a polytechnic in the sense that British people think of them (the schools from the 1960s to 1990s accredited by the CNAA) and 50 years later I don't think that matters.

My background is that I am a business graduate with majors in finance and hold a mba finance degree from a local university of my country I worked for federal board of revenue for three years a public sector organizstion and plan to move towards investment banking/ finance related career my second option is entrepreneurship

I'm not sure that an MBA from Newcastle is the most efficient entry point to a career in either finance or investment banking. Look instead at the London-based schools, which would put you much closer to the real financial action: LBS is the obvious choice but barring that there's also Cass and Imperial as well.

Finally I made my decision as suggested by you that Newcastle is the best option and the safest one. I got great news for you Newcastle recently got triple crown accreditation which has really made me proud of my decision. I am impressed by your foresight and true guidance.

Request to help me in choosing. I have been offered by 4 Business Schools/Universities (all full time). I have Googled but not much reviews online.

1. Newcastle University Business School (UK) has offered MBA (1 year).
2. University of Nottingham (UK) has offered PGDBA (1 year) (but no difference in MBA subjects, just that I'll be awarded only a PGDBA since I am not a graduate).
3. Auckland University of Technology has offered PGDBA (1.5 years) and then I can upgrade to MBA by extending for 6 months more.
5. Southern Institute of Technology (Invercargill, NZ) has offered PGDBA (1.5 years).

My background: I have extensive experience with more than 10 years working for reputed organizations. I do not have a graduation.
Reason for MBA/PGDBA: I want to move into business oriented or management or consulting roles.

Please provide your inputs which one I should choose and why. Appreciate your response. Thank you.

I would stick to business schools with international accreditation. There are some really solid business schools in Malaysia, UPM and Malay mainly. International business schools that offer accredited MBAs in the country include Monash, Nottingham, Strathclyde, and Edinburgh. You'd obviously pay more for these, but in reality you pay for what you get.

Heriot-Watt Edinburgh does not have international accreditation.
