At the outset i want to take this opportunity to appreciate all the people who have given replies very patiently to oft repeated questions in the various threads.
Kudos to you guys!
It is a very welcome forum because we get to talk first hand experiences and get a realistic idea.And selecting a university is a mind boggling process. There are so many choices and so many deciding factors.

Like the majority of you, i have decided to do my MBA and have been researching for some time now on the various options i have and am perplexed as to which university to apply.

I have shortlisted a few universities based on my requirements. It would be great if someone could add their view points.

My profile:
IT Experience : 4 years(one year deputation in US and Europe,the rest in India)
Bachelor of engineering from India(Above 70%)
12 th(76%)
10th(79%)
Planning to do IELTS soon

Constraints:
Not planning to do GMAT

Requirements:
One year MBA commencing September 2010.
General MBA/Strategic Planning - Aim is to get a holistic idea of management.
Budget: Going to be self financed, so looking at around 14K GBP - 18K GBP.
I am looking at a reasonably good university which is economical too.

Good as in - Decent diversity
Good quality of class and course structure, Employability

Finally some of the universities i have shortlisted in order of priority.
Glasgow
Nottingham
Sheffield University
Liverpool
Leicester
New Castle
Napier
Sheffield Hallam
Coventry

My questions are :
1.Practically speaking does my resume have a chance in the above mentioned universities?Do i have to change the priority to apply?
2.Should i add any other university to this list to apply?

I would greatly appreciate your response.

Except Nottingham, all are mediocre schools...Coventry Uni is 15mins away from where I stay...its really cheap...u can afford to study at Coventry Uni with a budget of £13-14 grands for sure...and I am pretty much sure that u can afford other schools too with the budget u have specified.

All the mentioned schools will be happy to take but since admission is on a rolling basis you need to make a fast move since many applicants who are not keen on taking GMAT queue up at these schools.

I wont recommend Napier and Sheffield Hallam Uni since they are trademarked poor Uni...Glasgow & Sheffield are good unis and ideally should be on the top of your list...Nottingham, as I have said is the best among all in your list but like Leicester the location is not safe...BNP is very active and its not a comfortable place for first time international students...Coventry
& Liverpool should be your safety net.

u can apply to Aston,bradford, leeds............etc your profile is just about there...............fees of these will be avg 21k bt these all r gud ones........

I too suggest the same......I think you are loosing best univ in the difference of mere 1K pounds......Normally I avoid making comments on bottom order..Its becoz .... lack of adequate knowledge on these univ..I think your profile is marketable for top order or tier 2 univ......Why don't you think on Birmingham(17.7k),Brad(19.9k),Aston,etc.......Your profile suits well.......

In fact glasgow is 19k.....But good univ....And Nottingham is no more in FT rankings...

My constraint is that i am not planning to do the GMAT, so i was settling down for the universities that makes a relaxation for GMAT...
I will look at the universities you mentioned...

Hello everyone.
I see a lot of information here. Please can you tell me if anyone knows, what is the actual criteria of shortlisting the students since these universities do not accept GMAT score. And is there any requirement of any english test like TOEFL or IELTS? Also where can I get complete information on these business schools as to the ranking, procedure for admission, deadlines, fees structure etc. I wanted a consolidated information as I had been wandering through various sites. And looking for each university separately is a tedious task. I am even looking for any website wherein I can ask questions related to admissions in various B-schools.

For a person without GMAT.......

Aston, Bath, Birmingham are good bet. Uni of Sheffield is also n good bet as well its an upcoming university and will surely make a mark going forward.

There is no specific criteria followed in this schools for selection, its purely based on first come first out basis....the earlier you apply makes your chances of getting admit better...

Dont only rely on rankings for selection of MBA college...do your own research and then finalise the college and course of your choice...

I now have offers from University of Birmingham(12 months) and the University of Sheffield.

I am expecting an offer from the University of Nottingham.

I am in a dilemma. Wondering which one to accept.

Each has its own positives and negatives.

U of Sheffield- Affordable, Average MBA

U of Birmingham- Reputed MBA,Structure caters to International trade and finance

U of Nottingham- Reputed MBA,Course structure is good but location not very welcoming to International students
