I am exploring MBA's in Luxury Brand Management, with Fashion as a specialism.
I have a number of years industry experience and have recently taken my MA in Fashion Entrepreneurship, but I really want to go far in this field and I feel that studying this MBA may push my boundaries and take me that step further.
I would like to know if anyone has gone through the process of having a brand sponsorship or scholarship an MBA, and how does the funding work - would you need to pay for your own living expences and accomodation if they cover your fees, or is there funding that offers cover for all elements of your study year? Another thought I had was perhaps it is better to become an employee of such a brand prior to engaging in the MBA.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you.

Many MBA programs award scholarships to the strongest candidates, the ones for which business schools would fight each other. They might cover some living expenses. However, there are very few MBAs in fashion and luxury and they are not well funded with scholarship monies.

I have additionally been looking at the area of luxury craft - I have trained at Cordwainers and have a huge affinity for hand made, high quality, bespoke product. I also worked for one of the worlds renowned bespoke shoemakers whilst taking my MA - I may then choose to go down the route of luxury craft, as opposed to fashion.
Thank you for your insight!

I would strongly recommend only 2 schools for this specialization. They are SDA Bocconi's MAFED program and ESSEC's MBA Luxe.
These are great programs. I just wanted to add that Glasgow Caledonian University's new one-year luxury brand marketing program in East London could be promising - especially for people looking for a program like this in the UK, where they are more rare than Italy or France.

IE doesn't have an MBA in Luxury business. Take look at http://imba.ie.edu/
Sorry I should have specified that IE run modules in Fashion, luxury and creative business entrepreneurship and an elective in sustainable luxury.

Alma Graduate School has an MBA for Design, Fashion & Luxury Goods. It's a one-year program in Bologna, Italy. I'm currently a student now. One of the biggest draws for me was the relationship the school has with many major luxury corporations (Ferrari, Bulgari, Max Mara, Tod's, etc); many of the courses are taught by managing directors of these successful firms. Plus, with the scholarships and the honor loans, it's impossible for you to NOT have the funds to attend. If there were even any comparable programs in the States, it would have still been easier for me to go to this school than have to find the outside funds to do so. Plus, I'm spending a year living in Italy in an amazing program; does it get much better than that? If you have any questions, feel free to send me a msg.

If you want to work in luxury in France, the superior alternative to a one year MSc in luxury will be to take the two year MSc pathways in the Grande Ecole programme, and to take luxury electives inside that.

Any accredited program that offers you an internship—where you can get practical experience in a luxury firm—would be worth considering.
